Marie Miller

Marie worked for two summers at Marzamemi in 2014 and 2015, recording, excavating, and photographing artifacts, and producing photogrammetric models of these objects. Growing out of this work was her Stanford archaeology honors thesis, which focused on marble production in early Byzantine quarries. Since then, she has done graduate work in maritime archaeology at the University of Southampton in the UK and worked in tidal zones and submerged landscapes. Marie’s interests lie mainly in the preservation and digitization of artifacts and underwater sites. While the pandemic has put much on hold, she has been working with a metalsmith in Washington, DC, planning to combine these new skills in metalworking with a career in archaeology.
