Intensive survey and limited excavations were undertaken between 2011 and 2016 in the harbors of Burgaz, located along the south coast of the Datça (Knidos) peninsula in southwest Turkey. The project was conducted as part of the long-term investigations of the settlement, directed by Numan Tuna of Middle East Technical University. In collaboration with Brock University and the Institute of Nautical Archaeology, fieldwork documented the infrastructure of the settlement’s four harbor basins and the history of their use as a means to link Burgaz with its local, regional, and international networks. Study of the finds and architecture continues today, offering a new window onto the shifting maritime façade and economic connections of the port between the Archaic period and late antiquity.
